Become Shirewise

Practically every year since I was a boy I’ve reread The Lord of the Rings (and sometimes The Hobbit as well). It wasn’t until I was in my forties, however, that an astonishing revelation hit me: Tolkien’s works contain a profound yet simple wisdom that makes perfect sense in our own world—a place that seems far removed from Middle-earth and the adventures of Hobbits.

I realized that I’d been subconsciously applying this wisdom and philosophy to my own life for decades. And I’ve written all about this in my upcoming book The Wisdom of the Shire: A Short Guide to a Long and Happy Life.

This page will contain links to particular blogs where I write about some of these lessons that I’ve learned and how we can all put them to practical use and become Shirewise.
